Ways to pay
Please ensure that your eight digit business rates account reference is quoted on all payments.
By direct debit
If you have a bank or building society account, the easiest way to pay your business rates is by direct debit.
If you are the only authorised signatory on your bank account, you can set up your direct debit over the phone by calling 020 7974 6460 or online by following the link below.
Alternatively, if your require more than one signatory, which can sometimes be the case for joint or business accounts, you will need to complete and return to this office a business rates direct debit instruction (PDF).
Once we have received your instruction we will set this up and contact your bank. You will receive a revised bill giving at least 14 days notice of any amounts that will be debited from your bank account.
By debit or credit card
You may pay using either a debit or credit card by telephoning our payment line on 020 7974 6104, or online following the link below.

Always quote your business rates account number as a point of reference.

You can pay by cash, cheque or debit card at any Post Office. In order to make a payment, take your Business Rates bill to any Post Office. Please ensure you keep your receipt as proof of payment. You need to allow at least 3 working days for the payment to reach your account.
Cheques should be payable to "Post Office Ltd". There is no charge for this service.
Payment of business rate bills is automatically set on a 10-monthly cycle. However, you can pay over 12 monthly instalments instead and will need to contact the business rates section to request a revised bill.
If you wish to pay by an alternative instalment plan to that outlined on the front of your bill, please contact the business rates section to discuss this further.
